In the dark of the night

you question yourself

You don’t speak out loud

you don’t cry out for help

You lay there and wonder

you worry and doubt

you cover your face

you try to tune out

but little by little

that worry worms in

worms through you

around you

it scratches your skin

flip to one side then

flip to the other

try to flip all of the

dread off the cover

you know that tonight

will be longer than most

shorter than some

you hope you can cope

daylight will surly fend off

this attack

but it’s a long way off

as the sweat coats your back

What do you think?
